“The New Colossus”
By:Emma Lazarus

The descriptive poem “The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus, this poem describes the theme of welcoming and how The Statue of Liberty radiates that feeling that all are welcome. The Statue of Liberty is in New York as a gift from France, where she stands on Ellis island as the mother of all exiles.Emma Lazarus encrypts this with in the text when she states”Glows world-wide welcome”.This defines how the Statue of Liberty stands holding her torch, welcoming all exiles and individuals to America. As world-wide welcome means everyone from all parts of the globe may live and take refugee here. Also Emma Lazarus claims this when she states”Send these, homeless ,tempest-tost to me”.The homeless and tempest-tost are usually those who have been decreed exiles. So this defines how even those who have been exiles are welcome to prosper and rest here.Overall the poem “The New Colossus” illustrates how The Statue of Liberty beams a sign of welcoming to all.
